According to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) on March 7, 14 kinds of animal and plant products from 7 countries have been newly approved for importation since February 1, 2020. These 14 animal and plant products include fish oil, fish meal, feed additives, etc.
China Customs has also approved 588 registered fruit orchards and 220 registered fruit packaging plants from 13 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United States, etc. Customs also approved the registration of1,549 overseas manufacturers of imported food from Russia and other countries.
According to GACC, in order to support the expansion of imports of agricultural products and food, special “green channels” have been opened at key ports, 24-hour appointment customs clearance is implemented, priority inspection and priority testing are also implemented.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China's imports of agricultural products and food have increased significantly. According to the official data, from January to February this year, China imported 1.25 million tons of meat with an increase of 69.6% YOY, of which imported pork and pork offal amounted to 720,000 tons, increasing 98.2% (almost doubled when compared with the same period last year).
