According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 171 batches of imported foods and 9 batches of imported cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in October, 2019.

Unqualified foods came from 35 countries or regions (products from Japan, 35 batches, was the most).

The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were: illegal food label issues (37 batches), without required certificates or qualified documents, excessive use of food fortifers or additives, inconsistent of goods with documents and without quarantine approvals.

Unqualified cosmetics came from US (4 batches), Russia (3 batches), South Korea (1 batch) and Japan (1 batch). The rejection reason were without required certificates or qualified documents, inconsistent of goods with documents and microbial contamination.

The above mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
